HSWAN has been implemented in the State by HARTRON in the year 2007 on behalf of the State Government. Under this network, State Headquarters at Chandigarh has been connected vertically with all the District Headquarters, Haryana Civil Secretariat, and Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, 120 Blocks/Sub Divisions/ Tehsils/ Sub-Tehsils, for providing facilities such as data transfer, Video etc. Besides this, around 1150 field offices of State Government departments/boards/corporations have been connected horizontally on this network. In addition, HSWAN connectivity has been extended to 1250 users of various offices for their specific applications through VPN over broadband. This network is also integrated with National Knowledge Network (NKN) at all the district’s headquarters, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Haryana New Secretariat Chandigarh, and Haryana Bhawan New Delhi.

The video conferencing facility of HSWAN is integrated with NIC video conferencing set up with resources available under both networks fully complement each other for conducting intra as well as interstate video conferencing sessions on a regular basis. Also, the jails & courts of Haryana are conducting online trials through this facility including high-profile cases without moving the accused from respective jails including recording of evidence of doctors under medico-legal cases. HSWAN is also acting as an interface for departments to access their applications/websites hosted in State Data Centre.
